Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College women's basketball
team cruised to a 79-44 non-conference win over the Pine Manor
College Gators tonight at Framingham's Athletic Center. With the
win, the Rams improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Gators fall
to 0-3.
The Rams opened the game with a 13-0 run over the first four
minutes and never looked back. Framingham State caused the
Gators to commit 35 turnovers which the Rams turned into 35 points
while the Gators were only able to generate 15 points off the Rams
miscues. The Rams were able to push the tempo and held
a 20-6 advantage in fast break points.
Junior forward Toya Chester (Leominster, MA) led four Rams in
double figures with a game-high 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting from
the floor to go along with seven boards and three steals.
Senior guard Allie Hart (Somerset, MA) chipped in 11 points, six
rebounds and five steals, while fellow guard sophomore Nicole
McConaghy (Medford, MA) added 11 points, six assists and five
steals. Sophomore forward Jill Johnson (Mansfield, MA) added
10 points and seven rebounds, while senior Kate Simonelli
(Pittsfield, MA) added eight points, seven boards and five steals.
Senior Center Amanda Dennis (Haverhill, MA) picked up a double
double for the Gators with 14 points and a game-high 12
rebounds. Freshman forward Stacie Beauford (Baltimore, MD)
and sophomore guard Enjolee Phillips (Hartford, CT) added 12 and 11
points respectively.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday, December 2nd as
they travel to Babson for a 6 p.m. tip-off, while the Gators host
Colby at 7 p.m. on December 4th.
