Framingham, MA - Junior guard Allie Hart (Somerset, MA) led four
Rams in double figures as the Framingham State College
women's basketball team cruised to a 72-42 non-conference win over
Mount Ida College tonight at Framingham's Athletic Center.
The Rams, who are winners of four of their last five, improve to
6-5 on the season while the Mustangs fall to 4-7.
The Rams, who shot 44.8% from the field and hit 21 of 22 free
throws (95.5%) in the first half, used an 18-3 run over the first
seven minutes to build a 29 point lead at the half
(50-21). The Rams cooled off in the second half but
were still able to extend their lead to as many as 38 with ten
minutes remaining in the game. Mount Ida struggled from the
floor in the game connecting on only 22.1% of their offerings while
committing 14 turnovers which the Rams turned into 15 points.
Hart finished the night with a team-high 18 points including 12
of 12 from the charity stripe, while sophomore guard Nicole
McConaghy (Medford, MA) finished with 15 points, a team-high nine
boards and five assists for the Rams. Forwards Toya Chester (Ayer,
MA) and Jill Johnson (Mansfield, MA) chipped in 10 points apiece.
Junior forward Cherie Parisi (South Attleboro, MA) led the
Mustangs with a game 19 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Junior Nicole Casimiro (Lee, NH) added eight points and four
rebounds, while freshman center Katie Morvan (Northbridge, MA)
chipped in eight rebounds.
The Rams return to action on Saturday as they begin conference
play on the road at Fitchburg State at 1 p.m., while the Mustangs
host Norwich University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
