CHICOPEE, MA - Elms College freshman midfielder Alex Rosario
(Chicopee, MA) netted his first collegiate goal, but Framingham
State sophomore midfielder Jason Silva (Milford, MA) struck twice
in the game's opening 31 minutes to help carry the Rams to a 3-1
win over the Blazers in Saturday's non-conference men's soccer game
at Leary Field.
Silva tallied his first goal just 2:41 into the game on a blast
from the top of the penalty area then added his second goal of the
contest in the 31st minute when he collected a pass from
sophomore midfielder Scott Faria (Fall River, MA) and blasted a
shot past Elms College freshman net minder Ryan Sullivan (Agawam,
MA) from just 10 yards out to give the Rams a 2-0 advantage.
Rosario pulled the Blazers (1-1) to within a goal with a penalty
kick goal in the 53rd minute, but junior midfielder
Jared Curry (Westboro, MA) provided the Rams (2-0) with an
insurance tally as he scored his team-leading third goal in two
games off a shot from 20 yards out.
Framingham State sophomore goalkeeper Greg Halle (Beverly, MA)
stopped two shots to earn the victory, while Sullivan turned away
nine shots in the losing effort.
The Rams outshot the Blazers 32-6 and held an 8-1 advantage in
corner kicks.
Elms College returns to non-conference play when it hosts Rivier
College on Tuesday, September 9. Game time is 7 p.m. at Leary
Field, while the Rams host Johnson & Wales on Wednesday at 4
p.m.
