Box Score
Framingham, Mass. - Senior Andrew Brady (Oreland, PA) scored two
goals and picked up an assist for three points to lead the
Worcester State College ice hockey team to a 5-3 win over
Framingham State in Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference
(MASCAC) ice hockey action tonight at Framingham's Loring
Arena. With the win, the Lancers improve to 2-6 in conference
and 4-9 overall, while the Rams fall to 1-12-1 and 1-8.
After a scoreless first period, Worcester State broke into the
scoring column just 2:08 into the second as Brady scored a power
play goal. Their lead was short lived as senior forward Brett
Casavant (Gardner, Mass.) tied the game at 1-1 just under three
minutes later with a power play goal of his own.
Brady would put the Lancers ahead for good at the 18 minute mark
of the second as he scored unassisted giving the Lancers a 2-1 lead
heading into the first break.
Worcester State added two more in the third period as sophomore
Nick Asterito (Philadelphia, PA) scored at 7:38 and freshman Eric
Rutz (Mechanicsburg, PA) scored his first collegiate goal and what
turned out to be the game winner at 9:27.
Casavant added his second of the night for the Rams at 12:04 of
the third to pull FSC back within two. Senior Joe Hurly
(Charlestown, Mass.) scored his team leading eighth goal of the
season at 16:36 to cut the deficit to one. That was as close
as the Rams would get as Mark Rintel (Oakland Gardens, NY) added an
insurance goal for the Lancers in the final minute.
Both teams return to MASCAC action on Saturday as the Rams
travel to Salem State at 2 p.m., and the Lancers travel to UMass
Dartmouth at 4:30 p.m.
