Framingham, Mass. - Senior guard Billy Carey (Abington, Mass.)
scored a team-high 19 points to lift the Framingham State College
men's basketball team to a 91-82 Massachusetts State College
Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win over the MCLA Trailblazers
tonight. The Rams move to 3-2 in the MASCAC and pull closer
to .500 at 7-8 overall, while the Trailblazers fall to 7-9 overall
and 1-3 in conference.
The Rams offense was firing on all cylinders as they shot 57.1%
from behind the arc in the game, while the Trailblazers shot only
43.8%. Carey connected on 7-of-9 from the field in the game
including 5-of-7 from behind the arc, while Darius Yarell
(Brockton, Mass.) was a perfect two-of-two from long range in the
game for the Rams.
Carey led four Rams in double figures including Yarell who
finished with 13 points and six assists. Forwards Roderick
Jackson (Cambridge, Mass.) and Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, Mass.)
chipped in 17 points apiece. Almodovar, who struggled from
the floor, hit 9-of-10 from the free throw line and grabbed a
game-high 14 rebounds for his fourth double double of the season.
The Trailblazers were led by sophomore forward Chris Harris
(Dorchester, Mass.) who shot 7-of-18 from the floor and 7-of-10
from the line for a game-high 21 points. Harris also grabbed
seven boards and picked up two assists and three steals.
Junior guard Brendan Kordana (Adams, Mass.) picked up 18 points on
7-of-10 shooting from the field, while senior Mike Perreault
(Whitinsville, Mass.) added ten points. Junior center Jon
Greenberg (Antwerp, Belgium) fell just shy of a double double with
eight points and a team-high 11 boards.
The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host Westfield
State at 3 p.m., while the Trailblazers travel to Fitchburg State
on Saturday at 3 p.m.
